Palo, Leyte - Last 29-30 April 2017, Football for Life took part in the San Joaquin Football Festival organized by the San Joaquin FC in San Joaquin Elementary School in Palo Leyte. Altogether, F4L entered six teams under the U13 Mix, U15 Boys, and U17 Girls categories, with players chosen from 9 the sites we handle across Tacloban. Opportunities were given to those who showed outstanding performance, but more importantly, commitment to attending our regular sessions and activities.
Cebu City – FundLife International will pilot its first football summer camp programme with Football for Life (F4L) in Cebu this year, thanks to a new partnership with in-field organization, Pandoo Foundation. FundLife Partnerships Manager, David Henry, met with Pandoo Sports & Leadership Program Manager, Lisa Stevens, to sign the MOU and discuss plans to replicate the programme’s previous success in Cebu’s communities. The programme will intertwine sports and leadership learning to empower kids living in urban poverty.
Tacloban City - Last 22 April 2017, Football for Life joined the Hyundai Cup 2017 which was held at the Tacloban Grandstand. Tacloban City - I was so excited on the day of the Puma Se7ens Cup because our head coach in New Kawayan, Coach Bernard, said that it was going to be a big tournament. We practiced every afternoon the week before that day so that we can play well in the games. It’s a great opportunity for us to be able to play in such an event, so we definitely had to give our best! In the end, our sacrifices were all worth it because we became the Champions in the Girls U19 Category.
Tacloban City - On 25-26 March 2017, Football for Life (F4L) registered 5 different teams to take part in the Regional Puma Se7ens Cup. The event gave 45 players (mix of boys and girls) from 8 F4L communities in Tacloban the opportunity to showcase their skills against the best players from the region. The F4L players were selected based on their commitment and attitude at the F4L sessions, as well as on their skill level.
