November 10, Saturday, 116 children and youth from all over Leyte province huddled together in Barangay 74 in Tacloban City to play football. The event was the commemorative tournament --Haiyan Cup, which this year carried the theme “Better, Stronger Children after Haiyan. “
John Paul Masubay, 22 is not just an ordinary sport coach. He is also acting as a ‘life coach’ to children using soccer as a tool.
TACLOBAN CITY – At his young age, John Paul Masubay has set his goal in life- be a coach. And not just a sport coach but a life coach to children who attend their sessions in football. The 22 year old resident of Barangay 59, Sampaguita district, this city, is one of the coaches under the wings of Fundlife International, a humanitarian organization which aims to promote children hit by super typhoon ‘Yolanda’ recover through sports, particularly football.
"Using sports to bring together youth and promote greater educational opportunity for all."
On 6-9th December 2018, the province of Cebu will host the Generation Amazing National Festival/Sama-Sama Games, a sports and education festival bringing together over 600 children and youth from across the Philippines.
