FundLife secure landmark Private-Public Partnership to support communities displaced by Typhoon Haiyan
Under the agreement, the City of Tacloban will provide a 2,000 Sq.m piece of land for FundLife to develop for youth and community advancement and protection. The lot, located in Tacloban North, is valued at approximately PHP 6.4 Million (USD 126,000) and will be leased to FundLife for a period of 15 years, with an option for a further extension.
The location was strategically selected as it sits in between several relocation communities that were created after Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) in 2013. Included in the infrastructure are two classrooms that can accommodate up to 100 students from GMA Kapuso Integrated School.
With the financial backing of the Supreme Committee for Legacy & Delivery for the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup, FundLife will build the ‘Generation Amazing Community Club Complex’ (GACC). The build will feature a multi-purpose futsal court and meeting space, community canteen, co-study space and coffee shop as well as purpose-built learning centre to up-skill youth and community members.
As part of the agreement, FundLife will deliver employment training for women from host communities to get them job-ready for a coconut processing facility due to be built by early 2021. The plant, operated and owned by Plentex Philippines will provide up to 500 jobs for local communities.
Construction on the GACC is expected to start in January and the complex is due be open by June 2020.
