Opportunities to train, play, and compete are helping girls from Girls Community League take their skills further. At the Mayor’s Cup 2026 (City Meet), held on October 17–18, 2026, at Tacloban Dream Academy (TDA), Sagkahan National High School and Lorenzo Daa Memorial School brought their experience from the league into school competition, with Sagkahan securing a place at the regional level.

Through the Girls Community League 2026 (GCL), FundLife provided opportunities for both teams to develop their futsal skills, strengthen teamwork, and gain competition experience. Sagkahan National High School emerged as the Secondary Division champion, while Lorenzo Daa Memorial School won the Elementary Division.

Through regular league matches, players had opportunities to develop their futsal skills, practise teamwork, and build confidence in competitive settings.FundLife also supported both teams through play kits and other team needs for the champion teams’ City Meet participation. Alongside their schools’ training and coaching, this support helped the players prepare for the next level of competition.

For Teacher John Rex, teacher and coach of the Sagkahan National High School team, the partnership contributed to both the players’ preparation and their personal development.

“The help of FundLife is a big part of our success in the City Meet. Through their football and futsal program, our players learned discipline, teamwork, and confidence. They were well-trained even before the City Meet started. FundLife also helped us with equipment and proper coaching. That's why our players were ready and strong during the competition.”

Sagkahan National High School finished the City Meet with three wins and no losses, earning the Secondary Girls’ Futsal Championship. The team will now represent Tacloban City at the upcoming Eastern Visayas Regional Athletic Association (EVRAA) Meet, opening another opportunity for the players to test their skills and grow through sport.

For Lorenzo Daa Memorial School, competing in the Elementary Division provided valuable experience, even without a medal finish. The players applied their skills and teamwork against other school teams, building on their learning from the league and their school training.

The partnership’s value also extends into education. Teacher John Rex observed that involvement in the programme has helped motivate his players to attend classes. He expressed hope that continued collaboration would help more children develop as both players and students.

By working with schools and coaches, FundLife helps create continuity between community play, school competition, and further opportunities in sport. Both teams’ experiences show why this sustained support matters: it gives girls opportunities to practise, build confidence, and take their next steps on and beyond the court.
