FFLA Year 2: FundLife Renews Partnership, MOU with the Department of Education

Tacloban City – FundLife International signs Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Department of Education (DepEd) Leyte Regional Office and Tacloban City Division. Picking up from the success of the Football for Life Academy’s (FFLA) pilot implementation, FundLife International, in partnership with DepEd, resumes the programme’s second year of delivery in existing partner schools in and around Tacloban City.

The MOU with the Department of Education Leyte Division was signed on 14 June 2018. In attendance were FundLife International founder, Marko Kasic, FundLife-FFLA Stakeholder Engagement Specialist, Kim Lopez, DepEd Leyte Schools Division Superintendent, Ronelo Al Firmo, and Chief Schools Governance Operations Division, Dr. Rhobelia Orbino.

Prior to that, FundLife also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of Education Tacloban City Division on 13 June 2018.

The secured partnership with the Department of Education allows the FFLA programme to continue its work with students from targeted public schools in Tacloban City and across Leyte. The MOU further highlightes the impact FFLA has had in supporting youth to improve their educational outcomes through the use of play and experiential learning as a tool for social, emotional and cultural learning.

FFLA’s pilot implementation was conducted in 6 schools including Palo National HS, Tanauan School of Craftsmanship and Home Industries, and Sagkahan National HS. The programme reached over 300 students who participated in a total of 49 football tournaments, 5 of which were held outside Tacloban City. In data collected with partner schools, FFLA was shown to reduce school dropout rates from the regional average of 21% to less than 2% for particpants enrolled in the programme.

The Football for Life Academy is FundLife International’s flagship award-winning programme created to provide innovative experiential, play-based, life-long learning pathway designed to complement traditional education, nurture young champions, and unlock opportunities for underserved youth to achieve their full potential.
