For several years, FundLife has supported young girls in Leyte through various interventions in their “Girls Got This” initiative with the goal of promoting their mental and physical health.
In April 2024, FundLife launched the Life Skills Plus project in partnership with the Consuelo Foundation. The project aims to engage one hundred highly vulnerable adolescent girls in a series of learning sessions designed to guide them toward various career pathways based on their strengths. Those demonstrating leadership potential will undergo leadership training, while others with practical skills potential will undergo TESDA training.

The project recipients come from ten different public schools in Tacloban City, grouped into two clusters. The first cluster comprises schools located in the northern part of the city, including Tacloban Agricultural National School, Scandinavian National High School, Guadalupe Heights Integrated School, and Northern Tacloban City National High School. The second cluster includes schools near the city’s downtown area and in the Southern part of Tacloban such as Leyte National High School, Sagkahan National High School, Tacloban City Night High School, Sto. Niño Senior High School, Antonio Balmes National High School, and V and G National High School.

In relation to this, Move for Equity packs are distributed to the girls to help them with their education by alleviating the burden of basic needs and promoting personal hygiene. The packs contain two kits; a health and hygiene kit, and a school supplies kit. The health and hygiene kit has an umbrella, sanitary pads, toothpaste, face towel, toothbrush, sanitizer, and bath soap. The school supplies kit features a tote bag, a set of ballpens, notebooks, intermediate pad paper, a pouch, correction tape, sticky notes, and a Move for Equity shirt.

The first round of distributions took place on June 26, 2024 with 33 girls receiving their packs. Another distribution occurred on September 7, 2024 when FundLife organized an Orientation Day to assist the girls in choosing the right career paths. Further distributions are planned in the future.
Going forward, the girls are also expected to participate in the Move for Equity campaign, scheduled in 2025. This will provide them opportunities to celebrate Women’s Month, engage in organized group activities, network with others, and gain valuable skills and insights into their emotional and physical well-being.
