Palo, Leyte - Last 29-30 April 2017, Football for Life took part in the San Joaquin Football Festival organized by the San Joaquin FC in San Joaquin Elementary School in Palo Leyte. Altogether, F4L entered six teams under the U13 Mix, U15 Boys, and U17 Girls categories, with players chosen from 9 the sites we handle across Tacloban. Opportunities were given to those who showed outstanding performance, but more importantly, commitment to attending our regular sessions and activities.
The football festival started with a parade of all the players and organizers around the school, followed by a commencement speech by the heads of San Joaquin FC. Games started immediately after, and all the players were pumped to play their best.
Team F4L performed really well, despite the exhaustion caused by the summer heat. Players from our different sites bonded with each other, as well as with the players from other community teams they have been acquainted with in the previous tournaments.
Two of our teams advanced to the semi-finals on the second day. However, our friends from Palo, Tanauan, and New Kawayan bagged the championship titles in their respective categories. Nevertheless, it was a great experience for Team F4L, as they surely enjoyed another weekend of football with friends - both old and new - from the other sites and teams across Leyte.
Congratulations to the San Joaquin FC for organizing this successful event, and to all of the participants of the San Joaquin FF 2017 for showing your best at the games! ~
