Capitol Cup 2019 on empowering Cebu’s Community Football Clubs


A community that helps provide opportunities for children together succeeds together!


The FFLA-Cebu Capitol Cup 2019 was successfully held on December 8, 2019, at Green Valley Subdivision Capitol Site Cebu City providing a safe play space for 158 youth from 18 football community teams all over Cebu.


The opening program kicked-off with a blast through an exhibition of the Opra Elementary School marching band. Mrs. Mylene Suarez, co-founder of the Guiseppe Football Club gave the opening prayer and Mr. Odysseus Suarez gave the inspirational message for the players emphasizing the importance of playing fairly and showing respect to all players and coaches and enjoying all the games. A total of 37 girls and 121 boys played under four categories (U9 mixed, U11 mixed, U13 boys and U15 girls). 4 teams participated in U9 mixed while in the U11 mixed there were 5 teams. 5 teams of boys participated in the U13 category while 4 teams of girls played for U15. They all played a 5-aside game in single round-robin. The top 2 teams for each category went to the final game match. The teams who emerged as champions are Giuseppe Banilad FC for U9 mixed, Giuseppe Banilad FC for U11 mixed, Guiseppe Capitol for U13 boys and Talisay for the U15 girls. They received trophies and medals as a recognition for their performance all throughout the games.



Rachel Genco the founder of Guiseppe FC was also in attendance to award trophies and medals to winning teams. She was assisted by some of the best coaches of GFC among is Lowel Ferrer who took the lead in organizing the event with the support of Football For Life Academy coaches, Reuben Ranille, Carlvian Jharedd Ladios and Daryl Villamor, the project lead for FundLife Leadership Academy: Girl’s Advancement and Protection project. The event became possible with the combined efforts of the staff and people behind the Guiseppe Football Club, FundLife International, SK Federation of Cebu City, Gerry’s Grill, Odysseus Rings, Suarez’ Arts, Leylam and Ponce Birthing Clinic. During the event parents, relatives and friends of all participating teams also came to watch and show their support for all the children.
