FundLife partners with JCI Tanauan to host Futbolero Clinic and Inter-Color Festival

On June 17 and 18, 2023, FundLife partnered with JCI Tanauan Pasaka to conduct a Futbolero Clinic - a Futsal clinic and Inter-color Festival in Tanauan Leyte.

The Futsal Clinic was held for 30 students from the Tanauan School of Craftsmanship and Home Industries, with the participation of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Chairperson of Brgy. Can Ramos Tanauan, Leyte, and JCI Tanauan Pasaka's former president.

Through the clinic, the participants were able to enhance their knowledge of football and futsal, gaining a deeper understanding of the differences between these two sports. Additionally, they were able to acquire fundamental skills that are essential for playing these sports at a basic level.

This also successfully raised awareness among participants on the importance of gender equality and promoted peace building through interactive play sessions. With the aid of youth mentors and football coaches from FundLife, the athletes honed their ball control skills, mastered dribbling techniques, and perfected their accuracy in passing. The futsal lessons allowed them to develop their playing skills and allowed them to socialize, bond, and enjoy themselves with other players. This camaraderie was vital for their participation in the Intercolor Festival the following day.

Following the Futbolero Clinic, the Intercolor Festival incorporated Gender Equity and Peacebuilding to ensure that the clinic participants' learnings were put into practice.

During the tournament, each participating team had to have one female player who would play during the game. This ensured active involvement and equal playing time for female and non-binary players.

Unlike in typical futsal games where boys dominate, the teams demonstrated an admirable attitude by allowing girls in their groups to showcase their skills and giving them sufficient playing time. The boys also played with respect and sportsmanship.

With the support of JCI Pasaka, TSCHI, the local government Unit of Tanauan, and all the participants, the Inter-Color Festival was a great success!

Yellow Giraffe emerged as the Champion, while Black Mamba and White Python secured 2nd and 3rd place, respectively. Blue Lynx was awarded the Fair Play Award for their outstanding display of respect and discipline during the Futsal game.

Additionally, some students were given special awards for their individual performances. Joemar was recognized as the Best Player, Xenester received the Leadership Award, Nick Francis was awarded for Sportsmanship, and Xeanray & Raey Gabriel were acknowledged as the Most Dedicated Players.

Moreover, the Most Disciplined Players were identified and acknowledged, as well as those who showed perseverance. It is truly inspiring to see such an exemplary display of Sportsmanship and discipline among the participants.

The remarkable achievement of the two-day event clearly demonstrates the power of collaboration and sports in effectively engaging and educating young people. It is expected that FundLife's partnership with esteemed organizations such as JCI Tanauan Pasaka will undoubtedly continue to have a positive impact on the lives of countless young people.
